Sunshine Award

***Sunshine Award***

***Sunshine Award***

My very first blog tag (massive smiley face right now) so a huge "Thank You" to Nin at prettypug I am very pleased to have been nominated for the Sunshine Award. Feeling happy happy happy it's always nice when someone notices you & likes what you do!

So let me explain, here are the rules of the Sunshine Award...

1) You need to display the Sunshine Award Logo within your blog post

2) Show appreciation by acknowledging the blogger who nominated you & add a link back to them within your post

3) Share 7 random or interesting things about yourself

4) Nominate between 5 & 10 bloggers you admire & happily pass this award on to them making sure to link their blog to your post

5) Contact your chosen blogger to let them know they have been nominated

Now then here are my 7 random/interesting things

1) Travelling to India, Ireland & Italy is on that list of things to do & has been ever since being a child.

2) My two career choices as a child was becoming a Vet to help all animals or being a Police Officer to make the world a better place. Sadly neither of which happened, although I have the ability to be able to talk to anyone & actually enjoy it so I have been in customer service & sales for many years.

3) Having very own bed & breakfast with a little bar attached & small farming land to have a few animals has been a dream for a very long time, offering a unique experience in a nice quite location.

4) Growing up I used to tell people I never wanted children but I secretly I wanted a MASSIVE TRIBE of them. I already have 3 my son Jack James & 2 daughters Daisy Marie & Poppy Anne & as much as I could scream from the roof tops most days I love them too the moon & back so who knows maybe there could more only time will tell.

5) I absolutely admire people who can dance I love just watching them move its a art in it's self.

6) I'm not girly & don't mind getting my hands dirty so I would love to build my own house but not just any old house I would like to build a sustainable Eco friendly house. I have so many ideas of what I would like to put into action.

7) Weddings weddings weddings I truly love everything about a good old wedding every kind.

Well that was mine a little insight into me, so what will you write & who will you nominate? My first nomination is Life's A Beach followed by Doctor Splodge along with Do It Yourself Weddings & Smitten Kitchen & finally Bikini Body Mommy.

Once again "Thank You" Nin for the nomination x x x

L Plates At The Ready

Yes the L Plates are making another appearance I think it is about time I get my act together & revise this theory so I can actually get on the road. Now don't get me wrong I am all for saving the environment & reducing the amount of vehicles on the roads but when you have 3 children & 2 of them require a pram doing the shopping & school run is a nightmare especially when the school run is a grand total of 3 to 3.5 hours from start to finish as my son goes to school in the next town.
So yes I would love to be able to go places without a full blown explosion of public humiliation when the toddler goes on one or the stress of 50 shopping bags falling of my pram in the street, paying out of this world taxi fares & so much more.

Anyway I took my theory test about 9 months ago now & failed by one point not ten or six just point I was disheartened to say the least, although I didn't do any revision & had hardly any sleep so what could I expect really??? Well now I am going to attempt it again but this time I have a plan, yes you read correctly a plan I said (very simple but a plan none the less).

I have already booked my theory test I did it on the 17th of this month & booked it in for the 31st of this month meaning I only have around two weeks to revise & learn all I can. So I shall take two online mock tests every day leading up to the actual test this way I can see what I am getting wrong & learn what I need to that way & fingers crossed this shall work! I am also going to replace my son Jack's reading book with the Highway Code that way he is leaning it as well as me, sounds like a good plan to me so far I just really hope it work.

I shall keep a record of my scores to see what my progress is like as well so fingers crossed & wish me luck & remember I need 43/50 to pass The Multiple Choice Test & 44/75 to pass the Hazards Perception Test.

Sunday 2oth July 2014

Mock Test One - 38/50
Mock Test Two - 37/50
Hazards Perception - PASSED

Not happy with this attempt as after seeing the answers I got incorrect I actually knew some of the answers but hesitated I should have gone with my gut feeling. Although I have passed the hazards perception part, oh well better look tomorrow.

Monday 21st July 2014

Mock Test One - 43/50 (PASSED)
Mock Test Two - 37/50
Hazards Perception - PASSED

Oh yes I only would have passed my driving theory test if this had been a really go on the mock test one but sadly not the mock test two, so pleased with my little self as again I also passed the hazards perception part of the test as well. Lets see how I get on tomorrow.

Tuesday 22nd July 2014

Mock Test One - 40/50
Mock Test Two - 43/50 (PASSED)
Hazards Perception - PASSED

So pleased that's another pass oh Iv'e impressed myself! I still need to complete all the mock tests though as I am given different questions on each test.

Wednesday 23rd July 2014

Mock Test One - 49/50 (PASSED)
Mock Test Two - 38/50
Hazards Perception - PASSED

Like oh my gosh 49 what the heck is that all about??? Talk about impressing my little self whoop whoop (big massive smiley face)
All I can think about is how great it will be to actually past the really thing but knowing my luck I will probably have a bad day & get all the answers wrong.

Thursday 24th July 2014

Mock Test One - 44/50 (PASSED)
Mock Test Two - 43/50 (PASSED)
Hazards Perception - PASSED

Feeling a little better about going to do my test now I know my score is just passing but it is a pass at the end of the day which is better than a fail, but still need more practice I think.

Friday 25th July 2014

Mock Test One - 39/50
Mock Test Two - 43/50 (PASSED)
Hazards Perception - PASSED

I am starting to get a little too confident so think I should give the tests a break I don't want to overload my brain weather this is a good idea or not that will be soon seen.

*****(THE BIG DAY) Thursday 31st July 2014 (TEST DAY)*****

Well that's it done I managed to PASS the Hazards Perception BUT sadly FAILED the Multiple Choice Questions by one mark I got 42/50 I only needed 43 GUTTED GUTTED GUTTED!!! (exactly the same scores as last time)
I found that even though I used 4 different websites to help me revise just to make sure I had a range of different questions for the big test none of the proper test questions was in any of the revision (STRANGE) so I guess I will just need to re-book in & take it again fingers crossed & any help or advise please feel free to send it my way but for now public transport is the way forwards (EXTREMELY sad face right now).

Fat & 30

Right so I'm in my 30's iv'e never had to exercise in my life really due to having the world's best metabolism! I could eat exactly what I wanted I mean I used to be known pretty well for coming in after a night out with friends & demolishing an 11" pizza to ones self followed by chips, donor meat & the remains of a friends curry oh & still wanting desert. I used to love Sunday food starting with a full English breakfast loads of chocolate & biscuits, a massive Sunday roast dinner with whatever was in for pudding then maybe a few sandwich more crisps, chocolate & biscuits & a fish & chip supper or bubble & squeak but gone are the days unfortunately (pulling a really sad face as I'm writing this now).

Back  few lines to the none existent exercising in my life whilst at school clearly I did but apart from that I have had maybe 5 trips to a gym & one boot camp class in my whole life so not a lot to say I USED TO & I say that USED TO have a awesome figure (considering what I ate & drank) as I no longer do well not in my eyes that's for sure! After 3 beautiful children what can one expect??? Really to look like a super model I don't think so especially when I don't have the best diet in the world or the best will power when it comes to food.

So I thought it's about time I took control before I do start to look like the side of a house end, I mean really how hard can it be to do a little exercise & eat properly??? Now my plan is to keep a diary of some sort so that I can see where I go wrong & if there is any kind of pattern, my diary shall contain what food & drink I intake along with any exercise I do (TRY TO DO). I still have to be careful what I do & don't eat & do as I'm still breastfeeding but I need to make a start as I can feel myself starting to get depressed about my weight & the way I look & it is upsetting. I mean I am not what people would call over weight as I look nothing like I did when I met my partner & we are getting married so I just really want to look my best & see that smile on his face when he is wowed by me, I also want to feel health for me myself so let the journey begin.......

Sunday 20th July 2014

Start Weight - 10 stone & 8 pounds
Waist - 32"

Exercise (completed)

Squats -  20
Sit Ups - 10 then rest & another 10
Rowing Machine - 5 minutes
Arm Punches - 20
Stretching
(COMPLETED ALL EXERCISES)

Food & Drink (consumed)

11:40am - Half a bowl of wholegrain honey peanut crush oats with milk chocolate curls & one cup of coffee with milk & two sugars

2:40pm - One cup of coffee with milk & two sugars

7:00pm - Sweet potatoes deep fried as chips, 2 slices of British beef frying stake (cooked in a drop of extra virgin olive oil) with one fried egg, half a fried tomato a small portion of oyster mushrooms & red onion & a small blob of mayo

9:11pm - Cup of coffee, 4 custard cream biscuits, one small red Leicester cheese bit & one Jarlsberg along with a strawberry rice & a handful of bacon bite crisps

10:43pm - One pint of cold water

So the first day is complete, tomorrow I shall increase the exercise side of things by a little & do the same again each day.

TARGET WEIGHT:- 9 stone (with a toned body fingers crossed one can only wish)

Thanks & Appreciation

I have not been blogging for very long but I am loving it so far which I never thought I would as I don't think I am the most accomplished of writers. I didn't think I would find anything to write about but I am & I'm finding myself writing notes whilst out, about things to add to my blog.

None of this enjoyable experience would be possible if not for my lovely sister who gave me the encouragement & reassurance she did one afternoon whilst I was visiting her in Leicester. Not only has she show me where to start & explained the in's & out's of a donkey (Blogger website) to me but she has completely changed the layout & design of my profile. Granted all my ideas/theme but none would have been achievable without her great computer know how & ability, from the colour shading to the front sizing, HTML to image designing everything looks amazing & I'm so pleased.

So Thank you so much Nicola Eld of Pretty Pug Blog you have done a great job I am so pleased & truly appreciate it.

Pretty Muddy Race For Life Done & Dusted

Well I am feeling overwhelmingly proud of my little self I never thought I could do it BUT I have & it feels GREAT!!! It was all in memory of my partners mam Judith Anne Norton who sadly passed away from cancer back in 2005.

Arriving at the Pretty Muddy Race For Life course at Temple Newsam was so exciting, I didn't realise just how big the place actually was! I felt like a child at a fun fair I know that sounds silly being 31 years of age, I don't know if it was because I knew I was doing something for a good cause or just simply excitement but either way It was fun. Their was a donation station for unwanted cloths & obviously I had a bag with me so that was the first place I ran to after getting out of the minibus, I ran to catch up with everyone else & headed down the field where the crowds of people where also heading so it looked like the right direction. The local radio station was at the event (96.3 Radio Aire) & The Pink Lady Gang giving away FREE Pink Lady Apples, their was a merchandise stall where I was able to pick up some wrist sweat bands, burger vans where I had to get a bacon butty as I was starving even though I'd eaten breakfast before leaving, face painting which we headed straight to for a little colour, coffee vans & loads more including PINK as far as the eye could see!

10:15 AM finally arrived so we headed over to the radio DJ area to be given the low down & see the arrival of the first set of ladies returning covered in mud looking rather tired, everyone started cheering & clapping for them it was a strange feeling even though it wasn't me returning back or anyone I knew I still felt proud for each & every one of the returning ladies. Then 10:25 AM came so we moved over to the start line with everyone else running in our group to do a quick warm up & with that done the count down began so off we went over the start line not knowing what kind of muddy fun was ahead???

I was already tired after running just a few yards to battle my way out of the crowds of pink ladies some dressed in wedding dresses (I dread the thought) some in tutu's others pj's all in the name of kicking cancers backside. The first obstacle was 5 mega large inflatable logs is the best way to describe them, now I'm only 5ft in height so not the tallest person in the world & the logs must have been about 3-4ft in height so as you can imagine I struggled cocking my leg over the first one after 6 attempts later & my loving sister wetting her self laughing at me I finally managed to get over it only to almost go flat on my face, after that I mastered the rest of them! This was then followed by what seemed a 100 mile run along a road & field which lead us to a maze of wires we had to climb through, under, over which ever way possible helping our fellow racer. Now this one I did in record time being small had it's advantages slipping down the left hand side, my friend Gemma however decided to crawl under the lot setting off a trend with all the other racers as we turned round after completing that obstacle all we could see was ladies crawling in the mud (Gemma feeling very pleased with her self). Again followed by what felt like another 100 miles totally wasn't like but my god felt that way!

I saw the 1K sign & that was brilliant I couldn't believe I had already got that far without stopping. My sister kept waiting for me now considering she is in her 40's & me early 30's I'm sure that should have been the opposite way round, anyway I was doing better than I expected. A large muddy bath approached leaving my trainers soaking in muddy water (oh so nice), followed by a crawl under the nets at this point my hat fell off so my plan to keep the rain from my face & stay remotely clean completely went out of the window. Again my sister & two friends Gemma & Jane was stood waiting for me cheering me on giving me loads of well needed encouragement whilst I set about the second crawl under the nets. Back to running this time not so far just insight was another two obstacles in the shape of tunnel tubing, I did suggest sliding head first on my belly but thought better of it so a quick hands & knees shuffle & away I went back to the good old running. By this point I was barley able to speak Jane's great advise of breathing in through my nose & holding it before letting it out seemed to be helping at this point although she was still laughing at me (being Mrs Motivator she was in fab shape)!

I must have passed the 2K sign somewhere which was a good feeling knowing I was on the last leg of the race gave me that boost of energy I needed as I think I was starting to see a brick wall in my head the brick wall of "OH MY GOD I'M DYING & NEED A REST"!!! Anyway the next BIG thing was the cargo net a blast up that & I say blast that was my fastest obstacle I mastered it no problem but again another run all this running was unreal & so tiring, I could still hear the sounds of the other racers cheering everyone on as they climbed the cargo net which made me smile oh & the photographers (it would have been rude not to have a little poss for them). running through 2 sets of tyres & shouting at the top of my lungs "KNEES UP, KNEES UP" made a few giggle & wonder what the heck I was doing but it was fun then for the last run I could see the start line which only meant one thing the finish line was near, another group of ladies all doing a warm up & another all having a prep talk with the radio station DJ just as we did. So I thought I would give it my all & try to speed up a little more as I didn't want my beautiful babies seeing me crawling through the finish line or my loving partner as this was all in memory of his mam Judith Anne Norton so I wanted them all seeing me fighting strong with a smile on my face no matter how tired I was so that's what I did.

The last obstacle another cargo net so up I flew not realising that a slide only was on the other side so swinging my self over face first I went down it just spinning round before hitting the bottom landing in the pool of lovely muddy water, I climbed out & ran as fast as I could up the grass hill seeing Jane crossing the finish line first, I was looking out for my little family & they everyone was My David, Jack, Daisy & Poppy all waiting to see me cross the finish. That feeling of unbelievable achievement & accomplishment just filled my body, I never expected to be able to complete the race but I did & I couldn't have done it without my sister Karen & two friends Gemma & Jane so for that I am truly grateful! (It took everything I had to do the race so a well earned lay on the grass was in order).

My selfie with my PRETTY MUDDY RACE FOR LIFE medal all in memory of Judith Anne Norton raising awareness for Cancer Research - Saturday 28th June 2014 at Temple Newsam Leeds.

My just giving page is still open & accepting donating so please feel free to take a look & any kind of contribution will be gratefully accepted & appreciated more than you will ever know no matter how small, just visit www.justgiving.com/prettyuglies

My Hair Donation

So back in September 2013 I wanted to do a little something for charity as most people do but as I was pregnant at the time so it kind of ruled out doing anything too extreme so after having a look on the good old internet whilst blowing my hair from my face to stop it getting in the way it hit me "CHOP THE LOT OFF" Yes you got it the brilliant plan was to cut off all my hair & donate it to charity seeming as I had enough for a small Army.

So I set about looking for somewhere to donate it to & came across a website called "The Little Princess Trust" providing real hair wigs to children across UK & Ireland that have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatments & alopecia, so this was defiantly the place I wanted to help! The charity is not only a registered one but also has The Queens Award For Voluntary Services apart of the MBE volunteer group which is pretty impressive.

I found the website http://www.littleprincesses.org.uk/ to be packed with loads of information from short stories to fundraising & event such as "ACROSS THE DIVIDE & PINK CAR RALLY" & steps on how to donate your hair & pennies. With high profile Ambassadors such as Joanna Rowsell MBE Olympic Gold Cyclist, Jennie Harrington Professional Ballet Dancer for The English National Ballet & so many more. Also offering help & support to hospital, parents & careers.

So on 27th September 2013 with the help from a friend off came my lovely long hair a full 21cm in total we bagged it up & sent it off feeling very pleased with myself in the knowing that somewhere in the UK or Ireland a child would be able to have confidence in their own appearance again. A few weeks later a lovely "THANK YOU" certificate arrived in the post & there it was that nice warm fuzzy feeling you get inside when you know you have done something good that will help others, something that will mean ever so much to someone else maybe even change their live for the better!

I personally think The Little Princess Trust are doing an amazing thing & deserve all the help & support possible.

Pretty Muddy Race For Life 2014

Unfit, over 30, not done any form of exercise since leaving school over 16 years ago, & just had my third baby Little Miss Poppy, all reasons why I shouldn't do this......BUT why would I listen to the sensible voice in my head screaming NO NO NO this is a bad idea, I'll tell you why!

JUDITH ANNE NORTON

That's why!!! I never had the pleasure of meeting her a GREAT LADY! An amazing mother according to my partner, she lost her fight to this nasty horrible disease we call Cancer a number of years ago now. She raised my partner Davy to become the man he is today & I'm 100% certain she would be ever so proud of him.
Cancer stole her away from him, he never got to share that moment of joy & happiness with her when our little girl Daisy Marie was born nor when our second little girl Poppy Anne was born. Cancer not only stole Judith but also stole apart of my Davy the day it took her.

If I could give Davy & my baby girls just one minute in time with her to say "Hello, I Love You, I Miss You or Goodbye" to hold her, cuddle her or just be in her presence then I would do anything in the world I could to make that happen!

So that's why I'm doing this, I'm doing it in remembrance of Judith Anne Norton our Mam, our Nan &  one unbelievable lady.

The Cancer Research Team are working extremely hard to find cures every single day to save lives around the world & need all the help we can give to stop families going through what my Davy had to go through watching someone he loved slowly fade away & not be able to stop it, he was a grown man when she passed away but that's not always the case small children lose parents to Cancer & I can not image how that must feel, heartbreaking totally heartbreaking.

So I have set up a Just Giving Page to try & raise as much money as possible before I take part in the Pretty Muddy Race For Life on Saturday 28th June 2014 in Leeds, West Yorkshire. I need as much help & support as possible getting donations so if you would kindly share my page via Facebook, Twitter, Word Of Mouth, Email or any way possible to try gain extra donations even if it's just £1 it all counts & is truly appreciated. To donate just click on the link below:-
